Wellness Wednesday Epsom Salt! Epsom salt baths are rich in magnesium and sulfates. These compounds are more easily absorbed through the skin than through the stomach by ingesting them. Hence why we always hear about Epsom salt being associated with baths. Now the big question...What is so important about magnesium sulfates and our bodies? They play an important role in everything from brain function to digestion. We thought we would put together a small list of how this therapeutic bath could benefit you in one or more ways. Benefits: •Destress- probably the most known benefit... It works because we replenish the magnesium we naturally loose due to stress. Magnesium helps with serotonin levels (HAPPINESS) •Detox- the sulfates help flush metals and toxins from the body. Helps the body eliminate harmful substances. •Inflammation- Epsom salt bath can help relieve sore muscles and pain associated with inflammation. •Oxygen- improves oxygen use and has even been shown to help asthma suffers. •Circulation- Epsom salt helps protect the arteries and has been suggested to lower blood pressure. •Migraines- bathing in Epsom salts has been linked to improved and/or eliminated migraine symptoms. We just tried this luxurious bath combo and were blown away: Ingredients: 1-1 1/2 cup Epsom Salt Scoop of Coconut Oil 8-10 drops of essential oil Warm- Hot Water Soak 20+ mins This relaxing combination could quite possibly be better than wine to destress...Than again maybe not.
