About the event
Most of us, it is safe to say, have dealt with some form of stress, fear and/or uncertainty at some point in their lives. Possibly many of us are dealing one or all of these qualities currently in our  lives. The world we live in today has cultivated a seed of anxiety.  This can leave one feeling unable to have control over their thoughts and their own ability to breathe in a calm and balanced way.  This thoughtful and timely workshop developed and hosted by our very own Laura Bepko, will help us to learn to breathe with efficiency and learn how to calm the body and the mind into stillness through the breath and through meditation.Â
Laura will focus on breath and vedantic meditation techniques in this offering.  The Vendantic method of meditation is based in the Hindhu philosophy , Vendanta, in which meditators develop their awareness by conciously removing attachment and identification to the body and mind.  These Vendantic methods of awareness are specifically related to states of stress and anxiety. Laura will be share some simple movements in the beginning in order open our capacity to breath more fully and to create comfort in the body for  meditation, but this is NOT a yoga asana class.  No yoga, meditation or breath control knowledge is necessary.  Laura will be sharing many resources, several breathing practices and meditations and open up discussion.
Laura will be featured this month on our website under our "Teacher Feature" .  Laura has been teaching with us since 2016 and we are so grateful to have her on our team.  Her knowdlege of the breath and how to use this not only in everyday but as an athete as well, is extraordinary .  Before becoming a yoga instructor, Laura completed  graduate research on how the breath works and affects everything in the body and mind. Since then, she have studied more deeply, the more subtle aspects of yoga including stillness, breath techniques and meditation and how they influence fear, anxiety and mental health.
