October : Off the Mat Series
w. Maxwell Miller

I have been a yoga instructor for nearly 12 years and have just completed my first year with Ventura Pop up Yoga. Interacting with students on the sand and outside has been a first in my Yoga instructor career, it has been invigorating and humbling, I truly feel like integrating a natural setting brings a profoundly energetic experience to the class. My workshop involves another one of my passions, rock climbing. The mental focus of yoga and the mind body connection really lends itself to climbing. I have been climbing for about 10 years and it has really given me so much confidence and mental focus as well exposure to beautiful and remote places. I would like to share this passion with my yoga students because I genuinely believe it can be transformative and inspiring.

“It is better to strive in one’s own dharma than to succeed in the dharma of another. Nothing is ever lost in following one’s own dharma. But competition in another’s dharma breeds fear and insecurity.”
-Bhagavad Gita-

Why Maxwell chose Ventura Makos All Stars/Ventura Scholastic Surf Team?

Well… we need some lifejackets. ;)

This is a Charity that I participate in. We take Children with Special Needs surfing. The healing aspects of the ocean are incredible, and getting these kids stoked is absolute bliss for me.

Ventura Makos All Stars is a new non-profit chartered by Christian Brock.

Two ways to support Ventura Makos All Stars this month:

  • Donate to our overall fundraising efforts; below via Paypal or Venmo @YogaintheWild with a description of the funds your sending

  • Join us on October 17th.  Proceeds from registration at Maxwel's 8:30am weekly practice will go towards our greater fundraising efforts.

Also if you're insterested in getting involved with the events that Maxwell + Christian host, please reach out. Last month our Surf Sangha Meetup group participated in the Sunday event supporting the kids and cheering them on.
